Pinoy Mahjong has always been more than an app. For many players, it is a familiar family table—a place to practice, remember the calls, and stay connected to a Filipino tradition.
As Apple’s devices and operating systems continued to evolve, the original Pinoy Mahjong code became increasingly difficult to maintain. Much of the complete source was no longer available and, for a time, we believed it had been lost.
We reconstructed the game from an older surviving copy and worked to create a modern foundation that could continue supporting new generations of iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices. That effort preserved the future of the app, but the first remastered release did not deliver the familiar, comfortable experience many longtime players expected. We heard that clearly.
Since then, we have continued improving the redesigned game—refining its table, controls, pacing, visibility, sound, guidance, and accuracy to the Filipino Mahjong experience.
We also had an unexpected breakthrough. Additional Pinoy Mahjong codebases were recovered from my father’s Mac mini, giving us a path toward rebuilding the Pinoy Mahjong 2 experience that so many players remember.
Today, we are working on three priorities:
- Continue improving the modern Pinoy Mahjong experience.
- Bring the familiar Pinoy Mahjong 2 experience into the current app.
- Develop a fair and reliable way to help affected players recover lost chip progress.
This work is still underway. We do not want to announce release dates or promise specific recovery amounts before the solutions are ready and properly tested.
What we can promise is that we hear you, we value what the original game meant to your families, and we are working carefully to make things right.
Thank you for your patience, feedback, and years at the table.
